Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the advantages of flat pulleys with TaperLock tensioning sleeves?

Flat pulleys with TaperLock tensioning sleeves provide a particularly flexible and cost-effective shaft-hub connection. Thanks to the standardised TaperLock system, different shaft diameters can be accommodated using the same pulley geometry. Fitting and removal are quick and require no time-consuming reworking.

For machine builders and maintenance engineers, this means: reduced stockholding costs, short downtimes and easy interchangeability of components. At the same time, the tapered connection ensures reliable power transmission even at high peripheral speeds and under continuous industrial loads.

In what sizes and designs are flat pulleys for TaperLock bushings available?

Our flat pulleys in accordance with DIN 111 are available from stock at short notice in a wide range of standard sizes. In addition, we manufacture bespoke designs to drawings or customer specifications – with diameters of up to 2,500 mm, rim widths of up to 750 mm and unit weights of up to approx. 6,000 kg.

Depending on requirements, various materials, balance grades and surface treatments are available. The pulleys can be designed as spherical, cylindrical or with flanges, and are suitable for a range of industrial applications in mechanical and plant engineering.

Can flat pulleys be made to order based on drawings?

Yes. In addition to standard designs, we manufacture flat pulleys to individual customer specifications or technical drawings. Thanks to our flexible moulding process, special dimensions and geometric adaptations are also possible without additional moulding costs.

Design engineers therefore benefit from a high degree of design freedom for new developments, retrofit projects or spare parts. Customised machining such as bores, grooves, coatings or special materials can be precisely tailored to the specific drive application.

What should you look out for when choosing flat pulleys?

When selecting flat belt pulleys, the key factors – in addition to the pulley diameter – are the shaft diameter, rotational speed, circumferential speed, belt width and the type of tensioning sleeve. To ensure cost-effective and long-lasting operation, material quality, balance class, manufacturing tolerances and the operating conditions of the plant should also be taken into account. Our bespoke consultancy service helps you to design the right drive solution for your specific machine application.

What impact resistance grades are available for flat pulleys?

As standard, our flat pulleys are manufactured to balance class G16 in accordance with DIN 21940. For applications with higher requirements in terms of smooth running, precision or speed, balance classes G6.3 or G2.5 are also available on request.

The correct balancing reduces vibrations, bearing loads and wear throughout the entire drive system. Particularly at high speeds or with large pulley diameters, optimised balancing contributes significantly to the operational reliability and service life of the system.
